About Stephen C. Sholder

Steve was born and raised in Williamsport, PA. He is proud to call central Pennsylvania his home. After graduating from Williamsport High School, he obtained his undergraduate degree from Villanova University and his J.D. from Duquesne University School of Law in 1981.

Steve focuses his practice on real estate, estate administration, estate planning, and elder and special needs planning. Steve was in private practice for several years prior to joining Beiters, Inc. as their general counsel. He then moved on to a local law firm assisting clients in planning to protect assets from long-term care costs and in helping families deal with loved ones who have special needs. In 2013, he moved from a larger firm establishing his current firm, along with the late Judge Thomas Raup in the heart of downtown Williamsport.

The law office of Raup & Sholder is very pleased to offer clients the individualized one-on-one attention they need at times of great stress such as when a loved one needs admitted to a nursing home. The office is small and intimate. Clients can look forward to working with a staff of five and getting to know them on a first name basis.

Steve enjoys talking to various professional and private groups around central Pennsylvania. Since the laws regarding planning for long-term care and nursing home care are forever changing, he frequently educates others regarding planning to protect assets from these costs.

Many of our clients know Steve because of his commitment to and involvement in the community. He is a longtime member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, former member of its Parish Council and current member of its Finance Council. He was a former member of the Board of Directors of Valley View Nursing Home and The Meadows Assisted Living Facility. He also served as an Officer of the Greater Williamsport Jaycees, having been named their Outstanding Young Citizen in 1991. Additionally, he has been very active in a variety of programs at Saint John Neuman Regional Academy serving on their Governance Board and currently a member of their Advancement Committee.

He has been involved in Youth and School basketball and softball for many years as a Board member and coach in Brandon Little League and as a coach in the St. John Neumann girls’ basketball program for 20 years, serving as the girl’s varsity coach from 2008 through 2016.

Steve is married and resides in Williamsport with his wife, Diane, a Nurse Practitioner with UPMC in their Breast Health Center. They have five children and two grandchildren.
